Washington October Twenty Second Five classifications will govern men awaiting the draft under new regulations approved by President Wilson. The Texas Highway Commission reports $734,569.80 in motor vehicle registration fees and $76,570.80 collected since July. Disbursements total $342,193.36 for county road allotments, leaving a bank and treasury balance of $376,815.54. Motorcycle registrations amount to $4,800.60 from 3,067 bikes.

School Bonds Pass in Bryan Vote Five to One

Bryan voters approved a 90000 dollar school bond for a new high school building despite war taxes and a light turnout on circus day. The result came 307 to 44 with merchants largely occupied and many unable to vote before closing time. The same election saw 129 for retaining Article 16 and 111 for its removal in a related charter matter. The Eagle praised the outcome and the paper’s stance on the issues.

Sixteen German War Vessels Put Out Of Action

Russian official statement says sixteen German warships were put out of action in the Gulf of Riga region last week. Two dreadnoughts, one cruiser, twelve torpedo boats and one transport were forced out of service. At least six torpedo boats were sunk. Russians lost the battleship Salva and a large torpedo boat. Fate of the others unknown.

German Sailors Mutiny Off Ostend Reported

Amsterdam reports a mutiny by German sailors in Ostend Belgium who refused to board submarines. An officer was thrown into the sea and thirty mutineers were taken to Bruges in handcuffs.

Divorce Grants and Criminal Pleas in Local Court

H. S. Morehead and Judge Maggie Loud grant divorces for John Robert Loud and Jennie Davis as well as Eloy Jones. State cases include a not guilty plea to maiming and a guilty plea to aggravated assault with a $25 fine, plus bond forfeiture and judgments in several civil actions. Damages lawsuits set and continued with depositions and dismissals noted, including a $1,000 judgment for personal injury in Sanders vs American Bonding Co. and a state case continued to next term.
