French steamer Redel sunk by German submarine
Berlin announces Redel, built as a submarine destroyer, was sunk in the Mediterranean October 2 by two torpedoes from a German submarine. Death of F Wetter Leaves Bryan With Deep Regret
Frederick Wetter died at 8 15 PM on Thursday October 12 after a two week illness at his Bryan home. Born in Westfalen Germany September 8 1843 he was 73 years old. He came to the U S in 1859 settled in Philadelphia and moved to Bryan in 1867 where he remained a respected citizen. He was a Presbyterian and member of A O U W Woodmen of the World and an honorary Sons of Hermann. Survived by his widow Martha Elizabeth Wetter five children and one grandchild Funeral Friday at 4 PM with religious services by Rev C H Storey and A O U W escort. Floral tributes testified to his esteem.
