Dairy chain hikes lunchroom prices in New York

The largest dairy restaurant in New York and other cities raised prices by five cents on staple dishes. Bacon and eggs and ham and eggs rise to 30 cents, a small steak to 30 cents, plain omelet to 20 cents. Pies go to 10 cents per slice as wholesale sugar climbs to 7 cents a pound and retail to 8 cents. War demand cited as cause.

A man named O. L. Hill allegedly passed a bad £8 check at Daly Dry Goods in Bryan, signed Co. Hanover. Sheriff Nunn pursued the suspect, with Bay City reporting the man jailed there tonight. This marks the third recent attempt to pass worthless checks in Bryan and all have ended with the suspect jailed.
