Fire Truck Drops Through Little Bridge Sunday Afternoon

Bryan Fire Department routine test runs led to the fire truck dropping through a weak bridge over the draw just east of the S P tracks on the street in front of the Western Public Service Co. The truck was freed by 9 o clock after starting at 5 30. The incident left the bridge badly damaged and in need of repairs.

Robert Ewing Armstrong, the infant son of Mr and Mrs R V Armstrong, fell very ill Saturday night and was rushed to the Baptist Sanitarium in Houston for special care. Accompanied by his parents and doctors C A Searcy and L O Wilkerson, the family traveled by car with Mrs Robert Ewing joining in Navasota. The physicians performed an operation on Frank Wilson in Hempstead and returned to Bryan. they reported the Armstrong infant was resting well when they left Houston.

John A Paradowski aviation machinist's mate first class U S Navy arrived in Bryan on the noon train Sunday to visit relatives and friends. He will stay in Bryan and at Mar lin during his furlough. The Pennsylvania, a battleship, recently cruised to the Hawaiian Samoan Australian and New Zealand waters and returns September 26 to San Pedro Harbor.

W C Buckman aged 80 died at 1 00 pm after a three month illness. Survived by wife and three daughters Marion Theresa and Florence. Funeral at 9 00 am at home and 9 15 am at St Joseph's church with Rev J B Gleissner. Born in Kentucky came to Texas fifty years ago and to Bryan ten years ago, ran the Bryan Business and Shorthand Training School for years.
