Officers Installed At Baptist Church In Bryan

The First Baptist church installed new officers for the year in a ceremony at the church, followed by a program at the Tabernacle. Pastor Dr. Jno A Held presided. talks by retiring and incoming officers emphasized unity and renewed church work. Participants included R S Webb Jr Sunday school superintendent, T R Batte, Jnc A Moore Jr,Mrs George Butler, and others. a social hour with punch and sandwiches concluded the event. Music and readings by Mrs Gabe Cazell Mrs J Webb Howell Mrs John A Held George Butler Jr and Miss Maudine de Steigner accompanied the program.

Teachers Entered Bryan Country Club

Informal reception and gathering will entertain all College officers and teachers by the Bryan Chamber of Commerce and Bryan citizens. The event, set for Thursday October 6 at 8 30 p.m., aims to introduce new College members to old residents and Bryan people.

Bryan Country Club Hosts First Annual Golf Championship

The first annual Bryan Country Club golf championship begins Monday October 3 with 18 hole match play. First and second flights feature many matchups as players compete under a three day per match limit with trophies to be awarded. Information available from Geo Ensminger the new professional. Wanderer Dies Singing Old Pal at Hangman’s Plea

Carl Wanderer, convicted of murdering his wife unborn child and a stranger, was hanged at 7:19 AM in the county jail. He marched to the scaffold with a firm step, prayed, and sang "Old Pal Why Dont You Answer Me" as the trap fell. The case described as one of the worst murders in memory. Livestock Exhibit Heads to Dallas Fair From College Station

In College Station Texas on October 6 the Animal Husbandry livestock exhibits were loaded for shipment to the Dallas Fair and International Exposition under Professor G S Templeton head of the department. The display is one of the largest ever shown at the fair and is expected to win valuable prizes.

Tabor Community Fair Was A Great Success

The Tabor Welfare Club of Brazos County hosted the third annual fair in Tabor Texas on September 30. The event showcased an enlarged high school with Delco lighting, Red Cross and educational booths, bake and craft displays, and prizes for youths as the community celebrated progress and public spirit.

Bryan Rotary Club Receives Charter in Bryan Texas

The Bryan Rotary Club No. 942 held a luncheon charter event graced by Hon. J. Luther Stark of Orange Texas third vice president of the International Rotary Club Stark delivered the charter and spoke on education and public service The ceremony honored officers led by T K Lawrence and included members and guests with a note on the clubs first event of its kind and a memorable European trip by Stark to the Rotary world.

Thadani Receives Postgraduate Certificate in Plant Breeding

In Guion Hall President Bizzell awarded K L Thadani a postgraduate certificate after he passed the graduate exam by the committee on graduate studies. Thadani, native of Bombay India, studied under Dr. J O Morgan in Agronomy 501 and 502 focusing on cotton. He plans to return to India to work as a British government employee conducting experiments.

Howat Elected New Party Delegate

Indianapolis Oct 6 delegates chosen as labor and farmer groups back a new political party. Alexander Howat was elected as a delegate to the International Mining Congress in England next year. He will be out of prison by that time.

A and M College of Texas will display twenty one head of steers at the State Fair and International Exposition in Dallas. The Bryan Country Club hosts the first round of match play for the club championship with several close results. Second round pairings by October 10 include Hubby vs Howell and Morgan vs Felker. Major General Joseph T. Dickman, commander of the Eighth Corps Area at Fort Sam Houston and former occupation chief in Germany, retires after more than forty five years of service.
