Cotton Marketing Association Proves Value to Members

Texas farmers who sold cotton through the Texas Farm Bureau Cotton Association in 1923 earned 29.32 cents after handling costs, higher than the 25 cents received on the Bryan streets. Ed Boriskie, a member, shows how bids and association pricing yielded good returns after deductions, with Brazos County farmers increasingly joining the cooperative.

Liquor Case Before District Court Today

Dave and Avery Greer of near Milican face charges of unlawful manufacture of intoxicating liquor and Avery Greer faces a sale charge. Judge W C Davis to preside. Also noted is Willie Sloan’s prior theft case from Judge Maloney’s office, resulting in a two year suspended sentence after jurors found him guilty. Sloan’s war service in France is cited in the prosecutor’s recommendation for mercy.
