Rat Contest Proposed for Boy Scouts Citywide

D A Huddleston of Corpus Christi challenges Boy Scouts in other cities to enter a rat contest based on each city’s human population. All city scouts may join, counting only rats killed by scouts with tails submitted to a reputable committee. Contest runs Dec 15 for ten days with encouragement from local businesses and agencies. Furloughs Granted by Gov Brough to Five Prisoners

Little Rock November 25 Gov Brough granted Thanksgiving day furloughs to five inmates including Dr A H Housley once Hot Springs veterinarian and Jeff Hines Texarkana both serving sentences for theft and murder respectively. The list grew to eighteen names with last night’s addition.

A. R. Johnson, sixty, of Cleburne Texas, died after a sudden heart stroke at a Texarkana Arkansas hospital this morning. He had lived in Cleburne for over thirty years.

Three Men Held After Pecan Gap Shooting

Paris Texas Nov 25 Buck Merrill charged with assault to murder in the shooting of M W Thomas at Pecan Gap last Saturday night had an examining trial before Justice of the Peace R D Humphries and was committed to jail at Cooper in default of 9000 bail. Two other young men charged with alleged complicity were committed in default of 5000 bail each. The wounded man brought to a sanitarium remains in serious condition.
