Welfare Club Tabor Meeting Dismissed By Weather

Five or six adults and twelve or fifteen children met at the Tabor school house for the Welfare Club gathering Friday night. Weather threats prompted a move to Charley Locke’s farm for a radio concert. a norther broke up the party early. Millican Holds Third Annual Community Fair Premium Winners

Millican, Nov. 1 The third annual Millican community fair succeeded despite poor crops and rough conditions. A strong school exhibit featured geography projects, posters and a war stories book by students, highlighting the Millican school's work. Relics display included a 200 year old spinning wheel, Dutch shoes from 1749, Civil War swords and a 1890 Millican News. Rodeo entertained as winners were named across agricultural, poultry, dairy, canned goods and needlework classes with numerous prizes from local merchants.

Belton Tigers Tie Caldwell Hornets 7 to 7 in Friday Game

Caldwell and Belton played to a 7 7 tie as Caldwell used forward passes to score a first quarter touchdown by Muller. Belton’s Sutherland broke through in the third quarter for an 83 yard TD. Caldwell posted 12 first downs to Belton's 7 and completed five of ten passes.

John Hicks Barn Burned On Monday Night

Fire crews responded to a blaze at John Hicks’s barn in the Buchanan addition on the east side after an 8:20 p.m. alarm. The building, set by unknown causes, could not be saved due to distance from a hydrant and lack of effective chemical application. Damage estimated around 500 dollars. firemen stayed to prevent spread to nearby structures.

Saddle Stolen Year 460 Found Tuesday

Hugh Hutchins is jailed on petty theft charges over a saddle horse owned by Ed Hill of Bryan. The saddle, taken last year from a back street, was found Tuesday evening on William Harrison’s farm about three miles south of town. Hutchins, a Mississippi native, had been working around Bryan. officers arrested him as he came for his horse.

State and County School Funds Exhausted Reported

County Superintendent D. J. Mc Donald says state and county money for schools is exhausted and registered vouchers will be issued later. Vouchers will be cashed in order of registration numbers when funds become available.
