Brazos County Court Approves Koppes Bridge WPA Project
Brazos county commissioners in recessed session voted to accept the WPA project for repairs to Koppes Bridge. The $16,534 cost will be split with $5,646 paid by the county and $10,888 by the WPA. Work will start once materials funding is arranged and time allows. The court also allocated three typists for the Resettlement Administration office and arranged for an audit of county offices by Rankin Company of Waco.

Woman Slain by Negro Suspect in Candy Hill
Daisy Chapel was killed after a man named Booker T. Ward, a Black man, slit her throat while walking with him Sunday in Candy Hill. Ward surrendered at the county jail and confessed to the killing. A renewed round of negotiations between steamship operators and 37 000 striking workers offered the best chance for settlement in the Pacific coast maritime strike. Little Josie Ruffino eleven day old daughter of Mr and Mrs Brazos Ruffino of the Cameron Ranch community died at the family home Friday afternoon. Household Goods Trailer Fire En Route to Marlin
Fire Saturday afternoon destroyed a trailer loaded with bedding furniture and wearing apparel owned by Otto Kindt of Kurten as he moved to Marlin. The car pulling the trailer driven by Fred Murphy, Kindts brother in law, had gone ahead in another vehicle. It is believed bedding brushed the exhaust causing the blaze. Murphy managed to unhook the trailer in time, saving the auto. The fire occurred midway between Bryan and Kurten on the highway.

Paving Planned From Brazos To Caldwell Next Year
The Texas Highway Commission plans 11 percent miles of paving from the Brazos River to Caldwell in 1937. Division Engineer John E. Blair said the contract should be let before year end.
