Sam Barron, 40, found dead in the ruins of his Holland drug store after a morning fire that also damaged the First State Bank building near Temple. Fire chiefs cite an explosion report. investigators later suspect murder. Loss pegged at about $10,000.
British liner Tahiti struck a crowded ferry at Sydney Harbor. The ferry sank in three minutes leaving about 150 people in the water including many school children. Authorities feared the death toll would rise from nine to about fifteen.

A. L. Darnell of Texas A and M reports the National Dairy Show may come to Dallas in 1928 as part of the State Fair. Memphis, Dallas, and St. Louis compete. Dallas is seen as boosting local dairying. Governor Dan Moody appoints Mrs. Albert Buchanan of Bryan as Brazos county chairman and ex-officio member of the International Golden Rule committee for 1927 1928. Golden Rule Sunday will be observed December 4 with plans already underway.
Two men robbed The Planters State Bank in Temple this morning, escaping in a sedan toward Killeen. Police were advised of the theft, and the amount taken was about $1,100.
AMARILLO November 8 The First National Bank of Brick Oklahoma was robbed today by two men. An undetermined amount of currency was taken and the bandits escaped.
Miss Elaine Bizzell daughter of University of Oklahoma president visits Bryan to attend the wedding of her sorority sister Miss Onah Astin. She formerly lived here and has studied at A and M University of Texas and Oklahoma.

Will Hall, 16, a Black student, is jailed in Brazos County on a rape charge involving 13-year-old Dulia Bennett, daughter of Mittie Bennett. The alleged crime occurred about 9 PM near the East Side Baptist Church in Bryan, where Hall resides about four miles away. The jail houses 16 inmates.
An elderly mother in Petersville Kentucky sought proof of her daughter's death from a train wreck. Today she learned the daughter, Mrs. Mary Feller Lawson, is alive and working in Dallas, sending a telegram to the Cincinnati woman who had pursued the death evidence for insurance.
Eight month old son of Mr and Mrs Harold Durham of Ranger swallowed a water chain with a small a injury reported by local hospital authorities. Medical staff monitored the child and advised keeping the airway clear while observing for signs of distress.

In Edinburg on Monday night two men were jailed awaiting a preliminary hearing for allegedly attempting to bomb O. E. Burg's McAllen residence. Police nabbed one at the scene as he lit a dynamite charge on the porch. the other was arrested next morning in Pharr as the car’s driver. One suspect, from Oklahoma, had previously lived there.
