Brazos County Sees New Cotton Classer Organized

The Brazos County Marketing Association formed a permanent board of seven at a Saturday meeting in Bryan with I M Cook as president and W E Graham as secretary. A cotton classer, Mr Adams, will open an office in Bryan to classify cotton grades, aiding farmers to obtain higher prices.

Old Timers Return for A. and M. College Commencement

Alumni from 1880 1890 and 1910 plus recent graduates who served in France will attend the forty fourth commencement at College Station Texas The program includes baccalaureate sermon May 23 and the commencement address May 25 by Edwin Markham with the Y M C A undergraduates addressed Sunday night by Colonel George M Bailey and a laying of the cornerstone for the memorial stadium.

Confessed Murderer of Nine Reaches San Quentin Penitentiary

James P. Watson, who confessed to murdering nine women he married, arrived at San Quentin to begin a life sentence. The killings were linked to a bigamous scheme, and the sentence was imposed in Los Angeles. Mr and Mrs E B Fountain returned from a visit to their sons in Houston.

Sheriff’s Notice of Election for Special School Tax

The State of Texas Brazos County orders a June 10 1920 election at Dowling School District 5 to decide to tax property to supplement the State School Fund and authorize a yearly levy up to 50 cents per 100 dollars. Brazos County Boys Plan Trip Contest At Court House

A Brazos County meeting at the district courtroom for 3 PM Saturday organized efforts for three travel trips sponsored by local banks. About 125 to 150 Texas youths will join the 4000 mile August trip. Brazos County may send three entrants. Bank officials praised youth effort and pledged support for farming education and boy development.

D. G. Wallace Dies After Illness in Bryan

B G Wallace died at Bryan hospital at 1 o clock Saturday morn after several weeks of illness. Born March 30 1860 in Tyler County Texas he was 69 years 1 month 15 days. A carpenter and contractor he helped build many Bryan structures. Survived by three children Mrs Martha Johnson Falls County Mrs Julia Irwin Oklahoma and George Wallace in the US Army. three sisters Mrs Bell Ransome of this city Mrs Smithie Cravill and Mrs Julia Renfro of Long Beach California. two brothers W P Wallace and M E Wallace of this city. Funeral Sunday at 3 PM from M2 Wallace home corner 24th St and Washington Ave.

Longtime Bryan Merchant John W. Coulter Dies at 73

John W. Coulter of Bryan died Monday at 4 30 am after a long illness. A Arkansas native born March 17, 1848, he moved to Texas in 1869 and built a major Bryan business. Survived by wife Nannie Robinson Coulter and four children, the funeral was held at 4 pm from the family home with Rev. conduct.
