Free Baptists award contract for new church building

J W Wilkerson has been awarded the contract to erect the Free Baptist church on the old site. The brick structure about 40 by 80 feet will cost roughly ten thousand dollars complete excluding fixtures and plumbing. Wrecking of the old building may begin Monday if the First Baptist ladies do not purchase it for a northwestern mission.

Burleson to Help Fix Pitts Bridge

Burleson county commissioners agreed to pay one third of the Pitts bridge repair cost with Brazos county funding the remainder. A warning notice on the Brazos river bridge cautions the public to stay off due to dangerous conditions as stringers on the Burleson side deteriorate.

Stringfellow Gains Twenty Two Pounds on Tanlac

Tom Stringfellow, a Southern Railway employee from Anniston Alabama, reports a four year battle with stomach trouble and weight loss. After using Tanlac he gained 22 pounds in a few weeks, now weighing 141 pounds and saying he can eat sleep and work normally again. He credits Tanlac with restoring health and plans to buy more bottles, with local sales noted in Bryan and Wellborn.

Senate panel reports 3.39 billion war deficit bill

Washington May 15 The Senate appropriation committee reported the war army and navy deficiency bill totaling 3 390 946 000 dollars breaking all records. The measure includes 400 million dollars for construction and purchase of a American merchant marine and authorizes government takeover of ship building facilities.

Pecan Budding Demonstration Reported at Tabor Community

Secretary Eberstadt and county agent Benson visited the Tabor area to finish a pecan budding demonstration begun yesterday by county agent and W B Lanham of the A and M college horticultural department. Benson notes buds on Walter Armstrong trees show good progress and Armstrong advances in the work. Also persimmon buds were applied to native trees at G W Blanton's farm.

Beaten With Stick After Saturday Night Incident
