Gas Pressure Hinders Carlos No. 3 Wildcatter Progress

The Ruth No. 3 wildcatter at Carlos faces an enormous gas pressure that began Wednesday and continues. Gas flow blew out mud and cement, delaying the plan to reach the oil sand. head driller A J Burke believes the hole can be saved and developed into an oil well once pressure is controlled. Trustee M E Wallace cites estimates of 46 to 38 miles cubic feet of gas, sufficient for Brysa’s daily needs, with road plans under study to connect Erpen and the Cartes field in Grimes County.

Bryan Review earns top honors in Texas League contest

The Bryan Review, with Laura Lee Bird of the senior class, won first place in section E of the Texas League at the Austin conference. The paper was named among the six best edited school newspapers in Texas, with Roy Driver as editor in chief and a staff including Kate Parker and Passime McCalloch. The Houston Chronicle sponsored the contest and paid expenses for representatives. The paper continues to showcase Bryan's talented students and editors.

Planes Use Landing Field on College Road Sunday

Two airplanes used the field east of Bryan on College Road overnight. A Dallas commercial plane carrying passengers stopped here briefly before continuing to Dallas. The Corsicana Daily Sun plane carried the mayor of Corsicana to Houston for the World Advertising Convention and appeared ahead of a special train in Bryan Saturday.
