Baylor Ex-Students to Gather at 5 P M Saturday

President Dr. Brooks of Baylor University will speak at the Allen Academy commencement in Bryan. At request he will meet Baylor alumni for a short conference at 5 p m to organize Brazos County Baylorites. All interested are urged to attend at the Baptist Tabernacle Saturday.

Commercial Airships to Combat Boll Weevil

Dallas police report that Frank Noel confessed to killing Ryan Adkins and Larry Milstead, injuring Mrs. Steers, and assaulting Mrs. Berry after an attack by a second assailant. Noel agreed to sign the statement, according to the Dallas county district attorney.

Diamond Robbery Hits Capital Building in Chicago

Four victims reported a six thousand dollar theft on the Capital Building eleventh floor. Charles Goldberg of New York said he lost unset diamonds valued at fifty thousand dollars in the incident.

Interurban Cars Curtailed To Meet Summer School Need

After classes end at A and M College the Sryan College Traction Company will reduce interurban service to a minimum required for summer school. Pennington Plantation Sends Cotton Bloom Sample

From Pennington Plantation in the lower Brazos Bottom comes a box of four or five cotton blooms from this year’s planting. The note with the blooms says the 600 acre plantation has 200 acres of fine cotton and that blooms are coming as sampled, with Brazos County areas still making a fair crop despite drought under good farming methods.

Teaser speed boat lowers NY to Albany record

R F Hoyt's speed boat The Teaser shaved 20 minutes from the Twentieth Century Limited's New York to Albany run. The Central's fast train took three hours, while The Teaser completed the trip in two hours and forty minutes.

Two Killed When Fast Train Hits Car at Crossing

J A Oconnor of this city received a telephone message about a fatal automobile collision last night at Muenster Texas. A G Stelzer and daughter Evaline were instantly killed. Anna Margaret four was injured. The car was struck by a Wichita Falls Fort Worth train at a railroad crossing. Funeral services will be held Thursday for the two victims. The families are related through J A Oconnors sister Helen who married Matt Stelzer. Matt Stelzer visited Bryan only last week.

N B Tucker Hurt In Jumping Train

Navasota brakeman N B Tucker of the N G freight on a run between Navasota and Valley Junction was injured at Bryan on Monday noon. He slipped while boarding the engine in L G N station yards, fell on his left hand, breaking bones and brusing. He was taken to the Railroad Hospital at Palestine for treatment.

Fields Dusted With Poisons Aimed at Cotton Eradication

A firm organized to commercialize eradication of cotton pests is linked to poisoning fields. The report notes suspected deliberate dusting of poisons on crop areas, raising concerns about safety and effectiveness of pest control measures.

Plans for 18 planes to dust boll weevil fields

Plans for using 18 specially built airplanes to spray poisons on cotton fields in the south to combat the boll weevil were announced by Huff, Dalant and Dist er, Inc. The planes will start next month with headquarters in Macon, Georgia.

Cotton stalk grown in Bryan city plots measures 2 feet

C L McCoy uses 35 acres across eight tracts inside Bryan to raise cotton. A stalk brought to the Eagle office stands two feet tall and bears 26 squares, tracing to the Tabor field of 23 acres within the city and the seven other plots also inside Bryan limits.

Green Parrot Tea Room Sold to Mrs Dora Wilson

The Green Parrot Tea Room in Bryan changed hands for 4000 dollars with Mrs M G Nall selling the business fixtures and goodwill to Mrs Dora E Wilson who assumed control Thursday afternoon. The Nalls plan summer plans in the Carolinas while Mr Nall stays in Bryan. The sale ends a successful era under the Nalls with many friends predicting continued success under the new owner.

Noto Loses Mule Team Runaway in Brazos County

Philip Noto of Brazos Bottom, renowned cotton raiser, endured a mule team runaway on Thursday caused by flies. One mule was fatally injured and had to be killed after veterinary advice that it would never regain value even if it survived.

McAdams Presides as Texas League Chooses Censorship and Home Rule

At the Texas League of Municipalities annual convention in Waco, J. A. Barnes of Beaumont was elected president with Harry Mason Vernon as vice president and Tom Justiss Paris as secretary. The meeting also formed the Texas City Managers Association and endorsed city censorship and home rule for smaller cities. Corpus Christi chosen as 1926 meeting site.

Heroes of the Gray Open First

Dallas May 20. Confederate veterans gathered for the thirty fifth annual reunion in scenes once training grounds for soldiers who fought in France. About 4000 attended the first business session plus meetings of the Southern Memorial Association and Sons of Confederate Veterans. General James Thomas urged harmony as committees began work and resolutions were prepared, including a proposal to officially represent the United Confederate Veterans on the Stone Mountain Memorial Executive Board.

Belgian Storm Kills Eight in Brussels Region

Eight people were killed by lightning during storms in the Brussels area. Damages were estimated at about one million francs as the city faced the powerful weather during the night.
