Tabor High and Grade Schools Open with Large Crowd
The Tabor high school and four district grade schools opened last Friday with Hon. W. C. Davis delivering the address. An unexpected rain disrupted the program but did not dampen a crowd considered among the largest in Tabor. A later May meeting at the high school, under A. and M. college extension, began Baby Week activities with Mrs. Ritchie, Mrs. Broyles, and Mrs. Jackson steering planning. Mary Lock was elected president of the new group with Mrs. Wilcox as vice president and Mrs. Morgan Class as secretary-treasurer. No official name for the organization had been set.

Frank Clark corn breeding expert from the department of agriculture visited Brazos County with County Agent Beason E H Astin and Ed Crenshaw. They sampled stalks five feet high from Sid Smith's upland farm near Bryan and Jim Reed's farm in the Brazos bottoms. The stalks used seed of the Clark breed distributed by City National Bank to farmers to boost local corn yields.

Antoinette Rappold, a 15 year old schoolgirl, disappeared Tuesday on her way to school. The severely harmed body and severed head were found by a farmer in a field near Memphis. A sheriff's posse with bloodhounds hunted the area with no arrest by nightfall.
