Council Bluffs May 4. Mr and Mrs Leo Alberti their two young children and a maid were found dead in the Alberti home from gas suffocation. Alberti was a prominent banking official and active in business circles.
Miss Marie Haines of College Park near A and M College has a painting titled Old Church at Ranchos de Taos selected for the Southern States Art League fifth circuit. The oil on canvas will travel through the Southern states from Gibbs Art Gallery in Charleston, S C, through June 1928.
I G Harmon vice president and manager of Marland Oil Fort Worth will lecture senior mechanical and chemical engineering students at A and M College Friday morning May 6 in the chemistry building. He will discuss petroleum production problems under the Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association Texas division.
Norfolk Va May 4 two officers died in a Navy air accident raising the two week toll to ten. Lieutenant Commander Harry rage and Lieutenant Russell Ollard died when their plane dropped 500 feet.
O. H. Teegarden of Houston addressed the Bryan Lions as the District Governor representative. He praised the local club and noted about 10 members plan to attend the State convention in McAllen. The Allen Academy band and Lions band performed with encores. Miss Louise Martin and Miss Dora Lee Foster, with Mrs. Roy Danforth, sang and danced.
An international economic service conference opened in Geneva on May 4 with fifteen hundred delegates from 46 nations including the United States, Soviet Russia and Turkey, aiming to craft plans to stabilize global economic conditions.
Dr. C C Hedges head of chemistry and chemical engineering and H R Brayton professor of inorganic chemistry of the A and M College of Texas authored a new textbook Laboratory Manual of Inorganic Chemistry and Elementary Qualitative Analysis published by D C Heath and Company New York. The book to be used in general chemistry this fall at A and M College includes detachable experiment formulas printed on gummed perforated paper for notebook use.
The East Side Parent-Teacher Association at Bryan High School elected officers for 1927 28: President Mrs H B McDowell re elected. First vice president Mrs Elon Stuart. Mrs Helen Kasmiroski wife of M W Kasmiroski of Bryan died Tuesday at noon at her parents home in Marlin after a brief illness. She had lived in Bryan since 1927 with her husband occupying an apartment with Mr and Mrs W G Reynolds on West 27th street. The funeral will be held in Marlin May 5 at 8 o clock in the morning with services at St Josephs Catholic church and interment in Cavalry cemetery.
The College Consolidated school hosts a May Fete on the Guion Hall lawn at 5 pm this afternoon. A cantata The Awakening of Spring with dances ends with Miss Maurine Howell crowned Queen of the May. A May Police dance follows as part of music week invites Bryan and College communities to attend.
Work on Bryan College road has been revived after a material shortage paused repairs. Crews widen sections and fix worn areas as maintenance resumes.
Dr. T. C. Walton president of A and M College appeared before the House committee to push for higher appropriations. He criticized the Senate action and argued that 20000 dollars for summer schools is inadequate. The House bill would extend faculty salaries to a twelve month basis matching other Texas institutions.

The Allen Academy band led by E A Lightfoot will tour McAllen for the state convention May 10 and 11, perform in Victoria, and give concerts in San Antonio and Austin May 13. The roster lists Alfred M. Johnson as drum major and includes students from Houston, Sherman, Dallas, Bryan, Galveston, Victoria, and other Texas towns along with two names from Chicago and one from Tampico Mexico.

A special meeting of the Presbyterian Men of the Church elected Dr F D Fuller as president to succeed Major W G Martin who could not serve due to other duties. Members praised the choice, discussed church work and outreach, and planned a luncheon committee and broader participation for upcoming months.
