In New Orleans on April 27 Associated Press reports Secretary Hoover doubts flood fatalities will exceed 200 and homeless total may be under 150,000 as relief measures continue after his Mississippi River tour from Memphis to New Orleans.
The United Daughters of the Confederacy in Bryan commend their work placing flowers on graves of over 120 Confederate Spanish and Allied veterans. The piece urges the community to honor fallen heroes and cooperate to locate their graves for remembrance.

Tom Holleron of San Antonio, a freshman, won the right to have his name engraved on the Bryan Country Club silver cup for the champion golfer of A. and M. College. Coach D. X. Bible notes Holleron’s victory. A. C. Nicholson of Shamrock was the runner-up.

Henry Judd Gray confessed in court that he killed Albert Snyder after stating Mrs. Snyder harassed him with persistent love making. The confession linked the motive to romantic pressure and led to the murder case unfolding in New York.

Mahala Williams, colored, is held in the county jail charged with the death of Victoria Williams, 40, her mother-in-law, found dead in her home. Williams is demented and denies striking her mother-in-law with an instrument. Death may have been caused by heart failure with head gashes possibly from a fall.
Bryan Lions Club votes to sponsor a Sunday movie show to aid Mississippi Valley flood sufferers. Maurice Schulman offers his theatre gratis, with donations via a door container. Plans include Pastors' Association approval and Red Cross cooperation if approved.
