In the fourth consecutive day of revolt against the Japanese backed Manchurian state, five Japanese and forty two Chinese were killed in a clash at Taochia tun, about 35 miles southwest of Chang chun.

Brazos county farmers were urged to file crop loan applications with the Texas Reconstruction Finance Corporation before April 30. On Tuesday Sam Heath of Calvert, district supervisor, approved 14 loan applications totaling 1072.25 dollars, which were forwarded to Dallas for processing.

J C Melver of Madisonville was nominated for Sixth District chairman of the Legion and W H Milam of Corsicana for district assistant chairman at the Sixth District convention in Madisonville. Margaret Garrtty of Corsicana was renominated for Auxiliary district chairwoman and Mrs J R Rountrree of Groesbeck as assistant chairwoman.

Ballinger March 23. C W Lehmberg county agent plans a seed pool to boost sun flower planting in Runnels county this year. The seed sells for 2 to 3 cents a pound for poultry feed and county land yields over 1000 pounds per acre.
March 23 Washington The senate began debate on the 135 million dollar democratic emergency road fund bill. Senator Vandenberg Republican of Michigan launched a bitter attack claiming the bill’s sponsors used unemployment relief as an excuse to launch a highway program.
A court of criminal appeals affirms a ten year sentence for Shilo Scrivnor in the 1927 robbing of Chester Griffin, an employee of the First National Bank of Texas City, of 5000 dollars. Scrivnor claimed jury misconduct.
The University of Texas oil royalty fund surpassed fifteen million dollars with February royalties of 101,238 on production from university lands. The total reached 15,058,211, up from January’s 92,833.
The State Board and federal engineers approved the plans and specifications for Highway No. 21 from Bryan to Kurten. Contractor action is set for the April 4 Highway Commission meeting with possible future paving beyond Kurten toward the Navasota. Work continues on Highway No. 21 west of Bryan and on the Brazos River bridge at Stone City. Grade and drainage work on Highway No. 6 south of Bryan progresses with expected paving this year and total about 60 miles of concrete highways in Brazos County by year end.

Eugene Bandy aged 17 detained two burglars entering his uncle's general merchandise store last night. He shot and wounded one of the intruders. One suspect claimed residence in Corpus Christi.

The Supreme Court refused to allow Mrs Ida M Darden of Fort Worth to file a Mandamus petition against the Democratic State Executive Committee to place her name on the primary ballot for congressman at large without specifying which of three seats she sought. The committee has required candidates to specify a place. Darden and other candidates argued the rule exceeds authority.
Auditors report the Dallas county sheriff's office owes $68,702.28 in excess fees and unauthorized expenses for 1927 to 1931. Incumbent Sheriff Hal Hood allegedly owes $35,571.93 while $34,130.30 is attributed to the late Sheriff Allen and his widow-successor, Mrs Laura Seale.
The Texas Court of Civil Appeals upheld the old conservation statute used by the railroad commission to prorate oil production, saying it remained valid until superseded by the new law. Danciger Oil and Refining Co contested the statute as abridging the right of contract. case involved Panhandle operations.
