Adolph Emden Dies at 61 in Houston Family Home

Adolph Emden born 1852 in Hamburg died at 5 am Friday at 1913 Commerce Avenue Houston. He leaves a widow and eleven children including Mrs A Novish Dallas Mrs R Brilling Ben Louis Sam Jake Emden Sadie Jeanette Lilly Bell Hazel Juliet Emden all of Houston. Funeral at 10:30 am Sunday from the family residence with interment in Beth Israel Cemetery. Mr Emden long a Bryan citizen. locals mourn his passing.

Fire alarm sounds from Central Garage area

Sunday morning at about 10 oclock a fire alarm issued from the Central Garage on North Main Street near Lawrence Wholesale Grocery. Hose Company No 1 extinguished the blaze with an ax and small chemical apparatus. The fire started from a defective flue and burned between the roof and attic for about thirty minutes before discovery.
