Hudspeth First Vice President Named at New Country Club

Reverend Thompson returns from Austin Christian Endeavor meeting

Rev. C. B. Thompson and Mrs Thompson came home by car from Austin where they attended the Christian Endeavor Convention held June 19 16 inclusive. About 1 300 delegates registered and 500 attended with visitors pushing daily totals to 2 500 or 3 000. The life work service drew 55 youths to commit to missionary full time service.

J Buchanan laid to rest at Steep Hollow

The funeral for J H Buchanan of Houston was held today from his brother A W Buchanan's residence with interment at Steep Hollow cemetery. The rite was led by Dr J A Held of the First Baptist church, with a quartette and Steep Hollow choir singing. He was 72, survived by his wife, a sister Mrs John McCorquodale and three brothers.

Loot Recovered in Chicago Mail Train Holdup

Police report that much of the $3,000,000 haul from the Chicago Milwaukee and St. Paul Mail Train robbery has been recovered. Eight men are in custody on robbery charges with three women as accessories and more suspects are being sought. Authorities say 61 mail bags containing securities and currency were recovered.

Texas Death Sentence Upheld for Gray in Mount Pleasant Slaying

The Court of Criminal Appeals affirmed the death sentence for C. Gray of Titus county for fatally shooting Otis Ballard near Mount Pleasant on September 24, 1923. The court labeled the murder especially cruel and declined to modify the verdict.
