Mexico City reports the government suspends the Tampico blockade to aid Niagara Falls mediation. Washington notes Huerta backed down to avoid disrupting talks and a gunboat diversion was ordered back to Puerto Mexico.
AP reports Huerta withdrew the blockade partly due to mediators acting over the steamer Antilla carrying millions of rounds of ammunition to Tampico. Officials say the blockade targeted war munitions, not regular commerce, while Washington notes Wilson aims for Tampico to remain open to all.
In Navasota Texas on June 6 the black man Will Robertson who killed white planter Jesse Johnson was seized by a mob from officers and shot dead. The incident follows the earlier killing and tensions rise in the town as authorities investigate the mob violence and motives.
President Wilson nominated Clarence Merritt of McKinney for United States district attorney for the Eastern District of Texas. The announcement comes from Washington on June 8.
Henry C. Wise of Sherman, who earned $18,000 after losing both legs while working as a Katy brakeman in Oklahoma, died from self starvation due to stomach trouble. The Denver death had sparked the report of his starved condition.

In Hoeflany Hungary on June 6 August Tomsics killed a farmer and his wife and wounded his daughter before barricading in a church steeple. Two police officers were killed and fourteen wounded during capture attempts. Several spectators were injured and the church altar and pictures destroyed. Four hundred cartridges were found with the suicide note. Fred Standard of League City arrived from Genoa Texas to drill a 300 foot deep eight inch well for Bryan city near the East Side negro public school. Work to begin when his derrick arrives.
Nine printing and stationery firms in Austin face penalties of 35000 dollars after a formal settlement of the states anti trust suit. The agreed judgment imposes a comprehensive injunction on future operations beyond a nominal payment.
John A. Moore told The Eagle that the State Insurance Board cut Bryan’s fire insurance key rate by six cents per hundred dollars. The drop reflects water supply up 10 percent, mains extensions, auto chemical fire engine upgrades, reducing the rate from 52 to 46 cents. Effective May 28, new policies since then qualify.
