Drowning Claim Adds Tragedy on Brazos River

Caldwell July 6 Johnnie Wesley Norcross 16 of Cook's Point was drowned Saturday afternoon in the Brazos river. His body was recovered hours later about 300 yards downstream. He leaves behind a widowed mother and other relatives.

Eberstadt Returns From Bay City Rally Tour

Secretary Sam Eberstadt arrived home after a Bay City trip to promote the Bryan Building and Loan plan. He spoke to 200 business leaders in the district court, attended a luncheon, and led a mass meeting from 2:30 to 4:15 PM selling stock, then toured Gulf Sulphur Mines.

Rotary honors Bay City secretary with gift and travel farewell

At the meeting Secretary W O Stephens of Bay City praised the Bryan secretary and presented Mr Eberstadt with a gold trimmed fountain pen and pencil in a case bearing the Rotary Wheel. The group then escorted him by car from Bay City to Palacios for a Gulf boat trip. After lunch he went to Blessings station for a train to Houston.

SAN SABA July 7 The San Saba Chamber of Commerce will send William H. Bogard to the A M state agricultural short course at College Station July 27 to Aug 1. The 13 year old son of a widow, a member of the Henry Agricultural club, walked six miles to the county agricultural short course to learn livestock and grain judging. The chamber voted to fund his trip in recognition of his unusual interest and determination.
