Rattler Exhibition Ends Quietly in Houston Cage

An AP report says the Texas rattlesnakes and Missouri blacksnakes shown in a Houston exhibit last night remained mostly passive. Two large rattlers and two Missouri blacksnakes were released into a glass cage. no lethal fighting occurred, only an angry fang display from one rattler.

Former Brazos County Man Visits From Galveston for breeding sows

Curlee of Galveston county, formerly of Steep Hollow, visits to bring brood sows to Texas A and M College for breeding. He heads the John Christensen Alta Loma Fig Farm in Alta Loma and notes the firm controls 900 acres of figs with Magnolia variety. A $200000 cannery rises at Dickinnon and another at Houston to process the crop. Harvest begins around August first. Curlee cites experimentation to find best adapted fig varieties. Edger A. When Ted Comes Home to Be Performed at Steep Hollow

A three act play titled When Ted Comes Home will be staged Friday night July 2 in the school house at Steep Hollow five miles east of Bryan. Admission is 35 cents with 25 cents from the proceeds aiding the Delco light plant for the school and churches. Bryan residents are invited to attend for a pleasant evening and to support a worthy cause.

Shell explodes killing 38 troops in Kowell Poland

A shell burst in Kowell Poland on June 30 killed 38 soldiers including two officers and seriously injured 30 others. The incident occurred during active operations and prompted military and emergency responses.

Ruchti's Lose Only Child By Death Monday

Sincere sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Pattie Ruchti of this city in their sorrow and bereavement in the death on Monday evening of their only child, Frank Joseph Ruchti Jr., aged one year and nine months. The little one was taken sick Monday morning with a bowel ailment and died at 9 15 Monday night. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock from the family home, conducted by Rev.
