Hood's Brigade Holds 1921 Reunion In Bryan

The 48th Hood's Brigade reunion closed with memorial services led by Judge John C West of Waco. Officers elected include Capt W C Walsh president and Capt John Roberts vice president. Bryan chosen for the 49th reunion. Members praised, tributes paid to deceased comrades, and plans set for future reunions with Katie Daffan as life secretary.

A and M to Host Farmers Short Course and Congress

Preparations at Texas A and M College Station for the Farmers Short Course August 2 to 7, with sessions of the Texas Farmers Congress August 9 to 11. Mrs G W Smith Sr Dies After Long Illness In Bryan

Mrs G W Smith Sr died at her home in Bryan after a long illness at 4 30 yesterday afternoon. She had lived in Bryan for many years and was one of its beloved ladies. The funeral will be held after son George W Smith and his young son return from a military training camp in the North. The exact funeral hour will be announced on arrival.

Farmers of Texas May Be Forged to Go on Strike

Austin reports farmers in Texas are on strike until inequality between country and city is removed. Commissioner Fred W. Tabor Well No 1 Spudded In At Wixon Lake

The Brazos county community witnessed the spudding in of Tabor Well No 1 at Wixon Lake on Tuesday afternoon. Miss Jessie Mathis christened the well with a bottle breaking ceremony as Rex Mills and the Consolidated American Oil Co. crew proceeded to drill. Local officials and residents, including O L Tabor and D J Williams, attended the event noted as a historic moment for Brazos county oil prospects.

Hood's Texas Brigade Holds Annual Reunion at Carnegie Library

Hood's Texas Brigade met in Carnegie Hall and the library lobby in Waco for the fourth reunion in 45 years. Veterans registered from 4th Texas, 1st Texas, 9th Texas and other units as Miss Katie Daffan organized the event with a welcome by Capt. J. T. Hunter and speeches by city and veteran leaders.

Plank Slightly Moist Mpadoo Not Nominated At Last Moment

San Francisco June 30. The Democratic platform subcommittee agreed on a prohibition plank described as slightly moist and backing the constitutional amendment while favoring personal liberty and opposing vexatious interference. The League of Nations plank would pass as Woodrow Wilson wanted, aligning with the Virginia platform. McAdoo’s name was not formally placed on the nominating slate and Dr Jenkins cancelled his planned speech.
