Gray W. Stewart of Waco a student at A and M College is held in the county jail on $500 bond charged with forging a check in the name of H F Rumfelt a Dallas student. The case will go before the grand jury in February after an investigation showed the check was indorsed by A R Parker fushman and later cashed through the college post office.
Clyde Roberts aged 29 and Fred Nave aged 34, arrested in Buffalo New York, are sought in Texas for bank holdup at Pam pa and the alleged slayings of two policemen in Borger. Five alleged gang members are in custody, Ace Pendleton is held in Eldorado Arkansas on homicide charges.
FE H Astin announced at the Bryan Brazos Chamber banquet that the East Texas Chamber of Commerce annual convention will be held in Bryan on May 6 and 7. Highway engineers report 50 000 miles of paved roads added to surfaced highways. About 3 000 000 miles of roads exist in the country, with 630 000 hard surfaced and 500 000 earth roads graded. One sixth of mileage has some surface, one third open to service. Modern traffic miles exceed railroad mileage fourfold, and demand for good roads grows.
