Tabor Cagers Sweep Navasota in Two Games

Tabor High School Yellow Jackets defeated Navasota 82 to 15 in the first game and 20 to 4 in the second. Team members included Sam Walker captain Curtis Elliott George Broach and Ervin Lawless. Hood Sends Record $1000 for Stone Mountain Memorial Coins

John B. Hood Jr. sent a $1000 check for a thousand half dollars sold for the Texas Stone Mountain Confederate memorial. The contribution from Jonestown Mississippi is the largest single subscription to the Texas campaign, boosting Austin headquarters. Hood is the son of Gen. John B Hood, whose likeness will appear on the Stone Mountain Panorama sculpted by Augustus Lukman.

Burglars Take Gems Worth 15000 From Palm Beach Home

Palm Beach police report burglars entered the home of George Mesker, a wealthy Evansville IN steelman and head of the Mesker firm, and carried off gems valued at about 15000. The theft occurred last night as Mesker announced the loss today.

Koontz Advocates Better Staple Cotton and Diversified Crops

Cy Koontz of Zack visited the Eagle office to discuss farming plans. He will diversify crops this year and opposes half and half cotton. He supports better staple cotton, standard poultry, thoroughbred cattle and hogs, and questions why Brazos County cannot grow the best.

Jones Bridge Closed for Repairs With New 180 Foot Span

Jones bridge across the Brazos River is closed for repairs as a new 180 foot span is installed to replace the old section on the Burleson county side. County Judge H O Ferguson says costs will be shared 50 50 by Brazos and Burleson counties. Traffic will resume once work is finished. Pitts bridge remains closed due to a previous washout leaving Koppe's bridge as the remaining crossing near Wellborn.

Charles Brachwiz Dies at 72 in Brazos County

Charles Brachwiz of near College Station died Monday at noon at his home aged 72. He leaves a widow and no children. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, conducted by Rev. J. B. Gleissner, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Born in Prussia, he came to Brazos County six years ago from Mexia.

James Castle Pays Fine for Slapping Wife at Market

James Castle paid a $17.65 fine including costs after his wife accused him of slapping her in the face at a local meat market on a Saturday afternoon.

Fire damages W. A. Withers home in Bryan

The southeastern Bryan residence of W. A. Withers suffered heavy damage from a morning fire. Estimated losses exceed 3000 dollars with the lower floor occupants minimally affected. Fire officials credited wiring as the probable cause and insurance covers parts of the loss.

The First National Bank of Bryan held its stockholders meeting Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. electing H O Boatwright president L L McInnis vice president Travis B Bryan cashier and J Howard Todd assistant cashier. Srazos Population Is on the Increase

The Eagle reports births from Doctors Searcy and Wilkerson offices. Aden Conlee, a seven pound boy, was born Saturday evening to Mr. and Mrs. Will Conlee. An eight pound boy joined the Higgins family of Union Hill, Saturday night. Dorothy Elizabeth, an eight pound girl, was born Sunday morning to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Melensky. Cotton Market Ends Lower on Futures and Local Receipts

Navy plans 1927 expand aviation with ten percent air service

Navy plans for fiscal year 1927 call for expanding aviation with at least ten percent of enlisted personnel serving with the air forces. Secretary Wilbur and top Navy officers outlined the program at executive hearings on the Navy supply bill before the House Appropriations committee, the report shows.

A San Francisco Examiner report says prisoner John Redding in San Quentin admitted he is actually Robert Scott. The Chicago murder case links Robert Scott to a death row sentence for his brother Russell Scott, who was spared the gallows after being ruled insane. Redding Scott says he will return to Chicago to prove the charges false.

Mr and Mrs Earl Tatum recently married at the bride's parents home were honored with a surprise gift shower Tuesday evening at the Free Baptist church on West 27th Street. Saint Jo Man Slays Mother in Law then Self

Dan Trammell aged 25 of Saint Jo shot and killed his mother in law Mrs Gen Henson aged 47 after being refused permission to see his wife. He then shot himself and died. The incident occurred at the Henson home in Saint Jo.
