Texas fig study to test Smyrna growth in Southwest

G P Rixford of the U S Department of Agriculture will conduct a thorough study of climate soils and marketing to determine if Smyrna figs can be grown commercially in Southwest Texas. The project includes date palm prospects and will cover the Satsuma district to Galveston and Houston then the Rio Grande valley with W B Lanham as co investigator.

Trial of Clarence Sloan for Butler Black slaying proceeds

Clarence Sloan, charged with the murder of Butler Black, was granted bail set at 750 dollars and remanded to jail until the bond is furnished. The trial and further proceedings were completed late yesterday.
