Better Farming Through Right Use Of Rented Acres

Texas will retire about 7 million acres from cotton wheat and corn this year about one fifth of the state s cultivated land. Extension workers urge using retired acres to build home food and farm stock rather than shifting to competitive production. Pasture and feedstuff use is encouraged if not sold or used to boost livestock. Terracing and cover crops may prepare land for future competition when trade permits allow.
