Hog of fourteen months weighs 631 pounds

Mr and Mrs W S McCaghren of College Road butchered a hog aged 14 months and 7 days weighing 631 1 2 pounds. They bought the pig near four months old and fattened it in a pen. McCaghren estimated 650 pounds at kill time and noted a feed short spell limited growth. The Eagle editor tasted the meat and praised the pork sausage.

English Pleased With Brownfield Gin Location

W B English formerly of Steep Hollow now lives in Brownfield Texas and visits Bryan on business. He plans to dispose of his cotton gin but has ginned 1491 bales at the new site and notes the town of about 1500 people is growing rapidly. The first gin was erected five years ago and this year 7000 plus bales were ginned. He has not bought land yet and operates the gin moved from Smetana community.

Three Solicitors Change Mind On Working In Bryan

Three solicitors visited Bryan for a short time and, at the request of Secretary S. E. Eberstadt and Officer J. D. Conlee, opted to seek other fields. A representative sought an endorsement at the Chamber of Commerce, using old credentials from 1923. he was told they were invalid and became abusive. A local boy, Edward Guy McFarland, got a five dollar subscription payment and the solicitor altered the receipt to five years, later returning the money after Officer Conlee intervened. The party left town in a Word car after a firm warning. The group included a prior visit, when one solicitor had nosed into black residents offering spectacles with subscriptions, claiming astigmatism to an elderly man without license to practice optometry.
