Interscholastic League Officers Meet February 14

Kurten Community Club Meeting Draws 300 Attend

More than three hundred people packed the Kurten school house for a community meeting. The Kurten girls and boys clubs presented a playlet and songs while Ruth Martin and Gussie Odom provided musical numbers. Superintendent D J McDonald attended and spoke, praising the teachers and volunteers for their cooperative efforts.

Hadley Named Chairman of K P Committee in Texas

Hearne Superintendent's New Chevrolet Car Stolen in Bryan

H. C. Lyon, Hearne public schools superintendent, bought a new 1825 Chevrolet touring car from D. D. White & Company in Hearne. He drove it to Bryan Saturday afternoon, then the car was stolen from in front of his Bryan home that night and has not been recovered.

Regmund Praised for Bryan Smetana Highway Repairs

County Commissioner F F Regmund of Smetana is credited with improving the Bryan Smetana highway. The bridges have safer approaches and potholes filled with drag work. The road, once among the worst in the county, is now in first class condition and pleasant to drive.

Bryan High Team Clinches County Basketball Title

In a slow defensive game Bryan High defeated A. and M. Consolidated 14 to 11 to become county champions. Gandy of Consolidated led with 7 points, Boyett of Bryan High had 6. The victory advances Bryan to a district contest at A. and M. College against six county winners ahead of regional finals at Austin.

Mrs. A G Board laid to rest in Bryan Texas

The funeral for Mrs. A G Board, born Mary Elizabeth Dodson in Alabama, was held at the First Presbyterian church in Bryan after a long illness. Survived by four daughters and a son, she and her husband Judge A G Board built a life in Bryan. Her family and many friends mourn her passing.

Thomas Wade Dies at Farm Home Near Wellborn

Thomas E. Wade age 75 died Friday night at 11 at the family home two miles south of Wellborn after illnesses of old age. Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. conducted by Rev. J. J. Tatum of Bryan. Burial followed in Wellborn Cemetery under McCulloch Gordon Company supervision. Wade was born in Alabama.

Edwards pair freed on $1000 bond after liquor transport charge

L. L. and S. B. Edwards, father and son from Kansas City, were arrested by Officer J. D. Conlee and Deputy D. D. Jolly in Bryan on Sunday. They were released from county jail today on $1000 cash bond after being charged with transporting intoxicating liquor.
