Monthly Meeting Of Baptist WMS Here on Monday
The Woman's Missionary Society of the First Baptist church held its regular monthly meeting at the church with large attendance and active participation. President Mrs W E Wimberley welcomed attendees and chaired a two hour business session followed by a noon luncheon for about fifty women. Circle No 3 led the 1 to 3 pm program on Missions in the Southland with devotional by Miss Nannie Berryman and talks from several members.

City Tax Payments Match Last Year Despite Changes
Tax collections through Wednesday morning closely matched the same period in 1931. In 1932 receipts were 74.6 percent of taxes due, while 1933 figures show 68.3 percent of 1932 taxes. About $13,000 is not due until May 1 under the split payment plan or unpaid due laws. Total money collected runs roughly 20 percent below last year due to a 20 percent cut in property renditions by the Board of Equalization.

Aged Woman Dies After Being Hit By Auto Sunday
Josephine Wilson, an elderly Black woman, died Sunday night after being struck by a car driven by Charles Carroll. Carroll called a doctor. she was taken to a local hospital. County Attorney Oak McKenzie said no charges but the case will go to the grand jury for investigation. The accident on Highway 6, north city, was deemed unavoidable.
