People urge road improvements on Kurten road

The author relays Granite County residents in Navasota and Kurten area say the state highway through Brazos County is impassable in bad weather. A three hour trip to Bryan recently caused lost business, and residents urge the Chamber of Commerce to back action to improve the road and protect local trade.

Hoffman trial hears defense witness on maintenance work

F G Hoffman vice president of the Hoffman Construction Company testified for the defense in the Hoffman trial indicating the firm expected to keep up maintenance on arterial surfacing until the second course cured. R W Baker highway engineer said only ten of 180 miles in his district were double treated and the company had spent less than 1000 dollars maintaining 180 miles since stopping work.

Salesman Dies At Navasota In Apoplexy

EE. W. Chaney a tobacco salesman for R. J. Reynolds Co. died suddenly in Dr. R. D. Karris office in Navasota after alighting from the 11 26 H T C northbound train. He boarded at Hempstead and ran four blocks to catch the train. He was about 35, single, from Tennessee or east of the Mississippi. Body at Dunavant Parlors awaiting relatives and Reynolds district manager will come to take charge.

Federal Farm Workers Visit A. M. Campus

D. Maltby southern regional agent for Agricultural Education and C. L. Davis state director met Texas Vocational Agriculture teacher-trainers at Texas A M Campus. They included 8. C. Wilson W. E. Hurricane devastates Green Acres near Lake Worth

A hurricane struck Green Acres two miles west of Lake Worth Florida injuring scores and injuring one child killed and 300 made homeless. Property losses are estimated at 750000 dollars. Physicians were sent from Lake Worth to treat the injured as the city organized relief efforts.

The Jones Bridge over the Brazos River will open to traffic Friday morning February 5 after a span was built at the Burleson county end. Traffic may cross Thursday February 4 at their own risk. Construction cost to be shared equally by Brazos and Burleson counties.

A. M. Waldrop chairs Civic Improvement committee of Bryan Chamber of Commerce and urges a constructive five year agricultural program for Brazos County. Mrs. Julia E Brizzolara 84 of Madisonville Texas died Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter Mrs J J Burroughs 507 Peden Avenue Houston. She had lived in Madisonville 45 years and was born in Ireland. She and her husband were longtime merchants and hotel keepers in Madisonville.

Noah W Dansby and D Paul Dansby completed a multi thousand dollar sale of E F Parks Co Inc furniture store this morning. Papers were signed at 10 o clock after a Tuesday night verbal agreement and the Dansbys assumed control immediately. E F Parks will stay in Bryan to collect debts and supervise remaining accounts while the corporation may pursue another line in the future.

Oklahoma Inauguration Draws Nine Texas Colleges
