Elizabeth Lynch, Bryan Pioneer, Dies at 82

Elizabeth Jane Lynch longtime Bryan resident died of pneumonia and complications Friday at 12 30 pm at her nephew A E Worley's home. native of Montgomery Alabama she and husband Dr Meredith Lynch came to Texas in the 1860s settling in Crockett then Bryan in 1867. Funeral at Worley residence 5 pm with burial in city cemetery conducted by Rev John A Held.

British to Inspect U.S. Army Schools in Germany

British War ministry plans to study the American army vocational and educational schools in the occupation zone. British officers arrived from London to Coblenz to confer with American general staff officers in Germany about adopting notable features for British troop training.

Steeles Store district votes rate maintenance tax in Brazos County

unofficial returns from Steeles Store show a 12 to 0 tally in favor of a 15 cent road maintenance tax and a 12 to 0 vote against tick eradication. County totals stand 224 for the tax to 204 against, with 242 for eradication to 197 against, majorities 20 and 45 respectively. Clerk delays official returns from College Station and Steeles Store.

Mexico City reports Las Palmas in Baja California as the first repatriation colony site for five thousand Mexicans returning from the United States. The area offers rich soil and abundant water, and most colonists have lived in California.

Brazos county bee keeping proves profitable says Tom Dyess south of Wellborn. He tends about 45 hives averaging 20 000 bees per swarm with some up to 40 000. He expects around 600 pounds of honey at 25 cents a pound. He notes potential growth if swarms had available housing. Dyess calls himself an amateur, active only a few years.

Cuero Texas reports progress on the 1 635 000 good roads bond issue with most boxes favorable. Thomaston opposes about fifty to ten against, while other boxes total 1 142 for and 618 against. After defeats in three months progressives see gains since May 24 and anticipate a new 2 000 000 election to include more roads, likely to be called soon.

Burglars Steal Cash Watch Eggs Bacon From Judge Maloney Home

Thieves entered Judge J. T. Maloney home on East 28th Street after midnight, propping doors and taking a gold watch, chain, cash, a basket of eggs and breakfast bacon, with clothing and valuables tossed about. They fled the scene, leaving bacon forgotten, after a failed second attempt at Mrs. Nannie Rohde’s house nearby. This marks a second burglary in the neighborhood recently.

Report of a distant fire overnight reveals a house owned by Jo Jones and rented to Horace Caldwell was burned with its contents. Lodge Says League A Botched Job He Cannot Stand

Washington August 12 Senator Lodge chairman of the foreign relations committee told the senate the league covenant is a deformed experiment upon a noble purpose. He warned it would kill the Monroe Doctrine nullify withdrawal from membership impair sovereign domestic decisions and drag the U S into every world controversy. David Hunter Miller, legal adviser to the league commission, said the discussion used a draft not from the Big Three.

Guy Dansby Named Public Weigher in Precinct 4

Guy Dansby, manager of the farmer's union warehouse, was appointed by the commissioners court as public weigher for precinct No. 4. He has not yet qualified while awaiting instructions from Austin on duties. The new law allows only one public weigher per precinct and any others weighing for the public must serve as deputies appointed by the public weigher.

Convict MP Exiled to Hungarian Soil

Ignatus Tribich Lincoln, once a parliament member and Austrian native who naturalized as English, has been deported from London where he has been imprisoned since 1916. Arrested in Brooklyn in 1915 for forgery at the British consul’s warrant, he was tried in London and sentenced to three years. A July dispatch said he would be sent to Hungary.
