Howells Free Agricultural Fair Promoted for Brazos County

W S Howell of Howell Lumber Company announces the first annual free Brazos County Agricultural Fair to be held September 26 at the Bryan lumber yard. Temple Fire Destroys Two Buildings, Threatens Block

A blaze in Temple destroyed two buildings causing about seventy five thousand dollars in damage. The fire threatened an entire business block for two hours as firefighters fought to contain the flames.

The negroes of Brazos and Burleson counties host a picnic and barbecue on Friday August 14 on the West side of the Brazos river between Pitts bridge and the levee near the highway in Burleson county. Unknown man saves falling toddler in Bronx window incident

In New York on August 12 an unidentified man caught 2 year old Moe Klien tumbling from a third floor Bronx apartment window. He set the child down unharmed and vanished into the crowd as onlookers gasped. The boy had been playing on the window ledge.

Twenty Two Men Of Church Met Tuesday Night

The Presbyterian men met in the Sunday School Annex at 8 PM with 22 members present. The gathering featured songs led by Larry Stephens, a talk by Mrs. J Brock on the church program and missionary work, especially in the Mexican division, plus committee reports and a chicken barbecue by the Woman's Bible Class. Bryan Builds Road and Bridge Support in Chamber Meeting

At the regular Tuesday session of the Bryan Chamber of Commerce Board, J. D. Martin reported a $250 Bryan quota for the Jefferson Highway. The San Antonio crossing bridge committee proposed $1,500, with $2,000 asked of Bryan, underwritten by the Chamber and funded from its treasury. The special committee will approve the bridge and road before funds are released, and a full Brazos County road survey plan was discussed.

Jesse James Recovers From Gun Shot Wound

Jesse James son of Rev J H James of Normangee has recovered enough to return home after weeks in Bryan recuperating from a severe gun shot wound. He uses one crutch and doctors expect his leg to heal fully.

Greek-born farmer John Sousares dies at Bryan Hospital

John Sousares aged 60 died this morning at Bryan Hospital after a Monday operation. A native of Greece, he came to Texas 35 years ago and lived in Brazos county 20 years. He farmed locally for seven years and is survived by his wife Tillie, daughter Mrs. Johnnie Phillips, and brother Frank who runs a roadside store between Bryan and Smetana. Funeral arrangements await word from relatives.

George L. Kerr 22, a Freeport Sulphur Company worker and A and M College electri cal engineering graduate, died at 5 p m from an electric shock while under a house in Freeport.
