Brazos County Farmers Form Unit of Cotton Growers Association
Brazos county farmers met at Bryan courthouse on Saturday August 7 at 2 30 pm to elect officers and organize a county unit of the United Cotton Growers Association of America. Fred Roberts outlined a campaign to reach 100000 members by January 1 1921 with warehouses financing distress cotton and a marketing bureau selling to spinners. Officers named include I M Cook president and W E Graham secretary with Wellington Brink editor and manager of the Cotton Grower. Additional meetings are planned in Steep Hollow Reliance Kurten and a Saturday session at the court house.

J I Barron received news that R J Bailey of Calvert dropped dead at 4 PM Thursday. Bailey, reared in Bryan, son of the late Uncle Lem Bailey, lived in Bryan before moving to Calvert with his family. He leaves a wife and three children. Barron attended the Calvert funeral this afternoon.

Texas Corn Crop Estimated At 160 Million Bushels
Austin August 6 estimate the Texas corn crop this year will exceed 160 million bushels. Major Ian H Dickson chief of the State Warehouse Marketing Department announces plans to market the surplus by securing buyers from other states. He already has prospective buyers to ensure farmers obtain the highest market price. Reports from the Texas corn belt indicate a bumper crop this fall. Born January 1 1848 in Greenville SC he came to Bryan in 1872 joining the drug trade and later held leading roles in banking and business. Survived by wife four children and many relatives the funeral will be held Saturday at 10 AM from the family home.

Committee to Austin to face Railroad Commission over Bryan College Interurban
Chairman Lee J. Rountree and Mayor J. M. Lawrence led a Chamber of Commerce delegation plus W Wipprecht and Prof J C Bolton from A and M College to Austin yesterday to appear before the Railroad Commission regarding the Bryan College Interurban issue. Rountree and Lawrence drove to Hearne and rode the Sunshine Special to Austin while Wipprecht and Bolton traveled by train.
