Value of Terraces in Texas Agriculture

Terracing yields higher returns per acre than other farms. Estimates show cost of terracing at 2 to 2.50 dollars per acre with average annual revenue gains of 3 dollars per acre, sometimes up to 10 dollars. Texas has about 15 million acres needing terraces, which could add 45 million dollars in annual wealth. Terracing conserves soil water, increases yields on level land, and prevents erosion by reducing runoff and nutrient loss, forming a foundation for a more profitable agricultural system.
