Knights of Pythias Visit Bryan for Exemplication Work

The Knights of Pythias Lodge of Navasota will visit Bryan on April 19 and 21 to witness and assist with the exemplication of the work. A Castle Hall meeting Friday discussed entertaining Governor Pat M. Neff when he visits Bryan and College in June, honoring Neff as a former Grand Chancellor.

President Roger Q. Astin of the Brazos County Pure Bred Live Stock Association seeks help to fund pure bred heifers for boys in Brazos County. County Agent Benson and Astin invite interested boys, citizens or banks to discuss forming a Pure Bred Live Stock Association as several Texas counties already involve 100 to 200 boys in pure bred cattle and hog projects.

Harding will not pardon Debs now

President Harding refused general amnesty for Debs and wartime age prisoners until peace is declared. He approved twelve new Major Generals and twenty six brigadiers named by Secretary Weeks to be sent to Congress. Clarence R. Edwards heads the Major Generals list.

Special to the Eagle reports Governor Pat M Neff will attend the Texas A and M College commencement on May 25 to present diplomas and give a brief address. Rev Dr George W McDaniel of Richmond Va will deliver the baccalaureate sermon on May 22.

Push for Brazos Bottom Highway to Bryan

A Galveston News letter from Waco urges immediate construction of 1.6 miles of concrete roadway through Brazos bottoms south of Bryan. The project, first set to finish in 1920, has not started, trials cite weather delays and a detour plan. The writer proposes a plank detour to advance work and urges penalties for delays.

Confederate Veteran W. H. Bogg Dies at 82 in Brazos Bottom

Ex Confederate soldier W. H. Bogg, 82, of Steel's Store in the Brazos Bottom, died Sunday night at Bryan Hospital after months of illness. County Judge H. C. Ferguson and commissioners coordinated his final care. pallbearers included J. M. Moore, George P. Edge, E. B. Holland, C. M. Degelia, and R. M. Walker. Funeral conducted by Dr. W. H. Trainum of the First Christian Church was held Monday at 4 pm.

Remains of Mrs Maude Ranson Laid to Rest

The funeral for Mrs Maude Ranson of Bryan and Gonzales was held at the Masonic Cemetery. Dr W K Penrod led services, with former pupils acting as pallbearers and many floral tributes sent by city schools, churches, and friends. She taught in Gonzales and Bryan schools, leaving a lasting impact on students. She died at 67 after a long career as a teacher and mother.

Crystal White Onions on Display at Eagle Office

Mack Mise exhibits two Crystal White onions weighing 14 and 16 ounces each. He has about 10 bushels for sale at 3 cents per pound, touting their quality for cooking and table use as a local Brazos county agricultural achievement. Deserted girl baby found in St. Joseph's hallway

A five or six week old girl baby was found abandoned in a hallway near St. Joseph's in Bryan. The infant, wrapped in cotton and poorly clad, cried weakly from cold and hunger as officials including Sheriff Morehead and County Attorney Minkert investigated. An Italian inscription on a neck emblem was noted, and authorities urged the public to aid in locating the parents or those responsible while charitable locals provided food and clothing.

Gov Neff and Col Price to visit Bryan and College

The Bryan and Brazos County Chamber of Commerce met with President Tyler Haswell presiding. Dr W B Bizzell announced Governor Neff and Theodore H Price of New York would visit College during June commencement to give addresses. Discussion covered Brazos bottom road, potential sale of the city hall, and plans for new buildings by Bryan organizations.

At Smetana on Sunday night Dr A L Mondrick found the Cahill store in flames and, using water from a nearby well, extinguished the blaze as kerosene oil fed the fire. Movement to Stop Present Crime Wave in Brazos County

Citizens of Bryan met at the First Baptist Tabernacle to discuss forming a movement for better citizenship and law enforcement. The group, led by Dr. S Corves and A Moore Jr as secretary, plans a conference on April 29 to establish a permanent organization with a five member executive committee including two women.
