Kansas bankers urge robbers to study state laws

Topeka April 14 The Kansas Bankers Association urges robbers to read state law and rewards. The 1921 legislature doubled bank robbery penalties to ten to fifty years, applying to attempts. Four robbers were captured within a week after the change, two in Bratt county and two near Topeka, with sentences of thirty years at hard labor for the Bratt county pair.

Negro assaults white girl saved from mob near Honey Grove

Virgil Sampson, 24, was jailed on a criminal assault charge after a 14 year old girl was attacked near Honey Grove. Deputies and citizens formed a mob but he was rescued by Deputy Sheriff Leeman and moved for safety. The case moved toward grand jury testimony and possible trial in Paris tomorrow.
