Highway plans poised for direct route via Union Hill

The proposed project would cut the current winding path from the Grimes county line toward Union Hill, creating a more direct north south highway. If feasible, the new route would shorten the distance by miles and adjust boundaries toward the Robertson county line after Bryan. The commission prioritizes the north south corridor over an east west option. Meanwhile the highway commission repair shop and depot near the oil mill area is half finished and hoped to open by April 18, with current quarters to be vacated soon.
