Crucifixion at First Methodist Shines Musical Night

The Crucifixion at First Methodist Church directed by Gabe Cazell drew a full house and earned high praise from Rev. Dr. E. W. Solomon as the best of its kind in Bryan. Local and visiting artists took part, including Sergeant L H Ducker and C F Weyman, with Miss Frances Mike at the organ and numerous soprano alto tenor and bass performers contributing to a triumphant production.

Reports say War Sunday drew strong crowds with high interest and a sense of duty. Citizens pledged flour and supplies to Uncle Sam to aid allies and troops, praising the patriotic effort and calling for another War Sunday to spread duty and responsibility.

Hotels pledge for Wheat Free period nationwide

Five hundred leading hotel men from across the country meet in Washington and pledge to use no wheat products until the new flour from this year’s crop is on the market. Grimes county citizens also vow to abolish wheat products until the new crop. A carload of flour arriving at Navasota and another in transit were diverted to Galveston for the food administration.

High School Bond Sale Finalized With Harris Bank

After a long market lull the Bryan high school bond issue of 90000 dollars has been sold to Harris Trust and Savings Bank of Chicago. The bank will hold funds on deposit for the building committee while work proceeds. City official W H Cole received the deposit certificate and bond terms via telegram, with bids readvertised and work hoped to begin by July first.

Cadets at A and M College were given a half holiday to move belongings as 150 army men arrive for technical training. There were about 100 in the signal corps already, with more expected for motor car work, driving, and repair training under various conditions.
