Texas A&M College Station March 30 reports a new soil conservation and soil building payment program under the soil conservation and domestic allotment act. Mr and Mrs Lee Showalter of Navasota visited Bryan after moving through College Station and are connected with the Navasota Daily Examiner. A belated cold wave moved north from Texas after freezing temperatures. Amarillo and Pampa reported lows of 26 degrees with some damage to early fruit, while South Texas was not affected.
Cecil Seiggert of Midway, a car penter employed on the FE N Holmgreen home, was badly cut and bruised late Saturday afternoon after swerving into a ditch to avoid a head on collision with a car on the wrong side of the road. He received first aid at Wilkerson Memorial Clinic and returned home the same day.
A large gathering from Bryan and College Station attended the Concord cemetery service in Grimes county for Clint Isbell who died Wednesday morning at age 55. Survivors include his wife, several children, his parents Mr and Mrs Geo F Isbell, two daughters Miss Emma and Miss Juanita Isbell, sister Miss Emerald Isbell, and brothers Clarence Iola Jonas Isbell John C Isbell and others. many from Texas A M Extension Service attended.
Mrs. Pauline Rauch, owner of the East 2220 Street two story stucco house where Bruno Hauptmann lived with his wife and son, faces a rental dilemma. An astrology magazine investigator occupied the second floor after police searches. authorities paid rent and redecorated. Rauch may show the rooms and point to places tied to the ransom case if a renter arrives.
Kerrville March 31 Carnegie medals are sought for brothers Leon 21 and Henry Sultenfuss for saving one life and assisting other crash victims after a January 23 automobile accident twelve miles south of Kerrville.
Trent on N J March 31 The ten weeks after Hauptmann’s January reprieve saw frantic defense efforts to uncover new evidence while Governor Hoffman pressed to resolve all angles of the Lindbergh baby kidnapping. The governor reopened state police inquiry amid impeachment threats and questioned prosecution witnesses including Dr John F Condon.
New York report recalls the Lindbergh baby case as Hauptmann’s trial unfolds. Juror Liscom Case died of heart disease after years of concern, and servant Mrs. Oliver Whateley who was present the night of the kidnapping also died. Col and Mrs Lindbergh remain in England with unknown return.
Adolf Hitler sent counter proposals to the Locarno powers to settle the Rhineland impasse. Special Ambassador Joachim von Ribbentrop carried the proposals to London as Hitler summoned his cabinet for a special session.
Funeral services were held near Franklin for R G Ramsey 82 father of Mrs Boss Hall Bryan Texas. He died about 2 am and is survived by two sons and two daughters Ollie Ramsey Frank Ramsey Mrs Cora Brewer and Mrs Boss Hall. Relatives from Bryan attended except Mrs Hall who was ill.
Austin March 31 Rep Hugh Jones of Cetier Shelby county says he will seek re election to the House and has no opposition. He says his aim is to kill objectionable bills rather than pass them and to relieve homesteads of all taxation up to 3000 valuation, as currently done in state assessments.
The Bryan and College BPW Club held its annual Public Relations banquet in Parker dining room with civic and social leaders from the community. Dr. Minnie L. Maffett, a Dallas surgeon, spoke on The Present Status of Women in Industry, after a reading by Mrs. Guy Harris and solos by Mrs. Williamson Howell.
Mercer County grand jury foreman asked for a 48 hour delay. Warden Kimberling noted possible angles to probe and Hauptmann expressed fear and innocence on the eve of execution, which was set for the week of March 30 and could proceed any day.
At a special directors meeting, Ivan Langford was chosen cashier of First National Bank following Wilson Bradley’s resignation to become acting Bryan postmaster. Bradley, a former bank official and Marine captain, will remain on the board as Langford’s promotion is praised for executive ability and stability.
Will Sanders charged with fatal shooting of Joe Acosta on the M. W. Sims plantation last week was bound over to the Brazos grand jury Saturday afternoon by Justice A. J. Buchanan with a $1,000 bond.

A Sunday collision on Bryan avenue injured none seriously to Norris Burt and Andrew Tremont as both vehicles incurred damage. A Saturday crash at 25th street and College avenue damaged cars of Mike Barron and F A Cusi with no injuries. A Friday collision on College road involving J 5 Sanders and Steve Hudetts, bus driver, damaged the Providence school bus but left no students aboard harmed.
