About eight hundred leading East Texas business and professional people gathered in Tyler to form the East Texas Chamber of Commerce. Delegates from forty five counties and seventy five towns elected E. B. Alford as president, named officers and directors, and approved a broad program to foster agriculture manufacturing livestock mining oil and trade while promoting education and transportation.
