Will Rebuild This Season After Blaze At Bryan Plant

The Minden Louisiana plant manager R D Webb and engineers report a fire last week destroyed the Webb compress facility. A new press from Reading Pennsylvania is due in about forty five days and expected to be in operation by December. Cleanup and rebuilding proceed rapidly with praise for Bryan Press Company for rapid response.

Bryan military company to meet at courthouse Monday night

Captain elect C. E. Boyett has received word Col. Hutchins of Austin will attend Monday night to aid in shaping the unit. All members and interested parties are urged to meet at the courthouse at 8 o'clock on Monday night October 22.

Vest Choir Performs Liturgical Service at St Andrew’s

The Episcopal church presents a fully organized vested choir of twenty choristers, male and female, with cottas caps and cassocks. The choir sings at morning and evening prayer and Holy Communion, and the public is invited to attend.

Fifteen Arrested in Juarez Revolutionist Raid

El Paso police acting with Mexican Consul Mallen raided the local junta of alleged Mexican revolutionists. Pedro Gonzales was the only man arrested in El Paso. Juarez police arrested fifteen in that city as investigators seized documents linking the group to branches in St. Louis Douglas Del Rio Laredo and Eagle Pass.

State budgets show eight million needed for next two years

Complete estimates for the two fiscal years ending Aug. 31, 1909, total $8,494,436, about $500,000 above prior estimates and nearly $1,000,000 higher than the two preceding years. Major increases arise from requests for permanent improvements for eleemosynary institutions and university branches.

Ohio Executions Report for Murder and Rape

Columbia reports Commander Johnson, a white man of means, hanged at Conway for the murder of Rev. Harmon D. Grainger after the preacher denounced him for adultery with Charlotte Simmons. The woman was sentenced to life in prison. In Bennettsville Bob Dargan, a Black man, was hanged for rape.

Berryman Hanged For Wife Murder In Shreveport

Ike Berryman a 28 year old Black man was hanged in Shreveport on Friday for killing his wife. He walked to the scaffold and said he was ready to die and believed he was bound for heaven after fatally shooting her when she told stories about him.
