A vast sea struck the Campania causing five steerage passengers to go overboard. About thirty others were injured, some seriously, and bodies may still be missing. Upper deck passengers were saved as steerage was overwhelmed by the surge.
The report details passengers washed overboard from the Italia ship Campania near New York on October 14. Among the dead are two Irish girls, a Danish boy, and a Milwaukee man, John G. Sahm, who was in steerage. Numerous injuries included a woman with both thighs broken and many with broken arms or ribs.
In Austin on Saturday Judge Freeman argued the Texas and Pacific Railway operates under a Federal charter and is not subject to the Love bill income tax, while Judge Stedman argued the Love bill is unconstitutional class legislation. He noted railroads often must seek lower rates to compete with other freight carriers.
On October 14 Pensacola officials reported twenty nine new yellow fever cases and five deaths up to 6 o'clock. Despite the grim totals, authorities and citizens expressed confidence that fumigation and cleanup efforts will soon eradicate the disease.

Georgetown Tex oct 14 the janitor seized a box of gymnasium fund checks and notes totaling 4500 and burned the box and contents along with rubbish. the funds were donated from across Texas and supporters say the effort will be duplicated and the project continue.
In Guthrie on October 14 a Payne county family found their Yale area home ablaze. The fifteen year old son of Daniel McCloskey, alone inside the room, stumbled into hot embers while retrieving a new gun and was fatally burned as the house burned around him after the family rushed home from church.
A sub committee of three pastors from Dallas St Louis and Birmingham met in Birmingham to finalize plans for the quadrennial general conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. The gathering will convene on the first Thursday in May 1906.
