Baptists Form North American General Convention
The General Convention of Baptists of North America is organized with officers led by E W Stephens as president and J S Prestidge as secretary. Rev Carl Burns sparked controversy by proposing infant dedication, urging public infant dedications as a substitute for infant baptism in a move seen as radical by some Baptists. The convention plans a permanent HQ in Louisville, rules for representation unchanged, and meets next in 1906 with triennial gatherings thereafter.
