Floods inundate numerous residences and business houses around Memphis. River surge at the Mississippi triggers emergency evacuations along the riverfront, with residents fleeing to higher ground and awaiting relief efforts.
The St Francis levee broke near Wrnce's Landing Ark, flooding North and South Memphis. Trains run through water, relief efforts strained, hundreds displaced, and local packets focus on rescue as the Mississippi River swells. The Mississippi Valley Railway started a patrol run from Baton Rouge to New Orleans to protect sugar districts.
