A report from the copper district in northwest Beaver county details a discovery of a rich copper vein 18 inches thick in Long's canyon. Other finds are noted. The OCanizo smelter began operations Thursday and mining will proceed locally, avoiding a 115 mile ore freight to the railway for shipment to distant smelters.

Silver dollar sack missing from bank vault grounds

In Chicago on July 29 a sack containing 1000 silver dollars weighing about 60 pounds disappeared from the Commercial National bank. Detectives have been assigned but made no progress as the sack was left outside the vault when the bank closed Saturday night and has not been recovered.
