Two Executed for Murder in Charlottesville and Washington
J Samuel McCue a former Charlottesville mayor was hanged after confessing to murdering his wife on Sept 4 1904. Evidence included a torn shirt piece and a claim of an evil power. Augustus L Shaffer was also executed in Washington for killing his divorced wife Katherine Ivey on Aug 22 1903 with a razor amid jealousy.
