Triple Tragedy. Motorman Deputy Constable and Negro Die
Beaumont December 18. A shooting in the South End left three dead: Byron Merritt a motorman, Elisha Pevito a deputy constable, and Henry Powell a negro. Powell fired first at Merritt, Merritt fell, and officers converged on the area. Pevito was shot through the heart as he and Texis searched a negro hut, Powell fled to the back door where Texis again fired killing him.

Behrens Drug Co. President Dr Herman Behrens Dies
Dr Herman Behrens, 55, president of the Behrens Drug Company, died in Waco on Sunday afternoon from heart trouble superinduced by pneumonia. Born in north Germany, he came to America 35 years ago and held leadership roles as exalted ruler of the local Elks lodge and a prominent Pythian. He served terms as president of the Waco Business Men's club and was a director and railway committee chairman at death.

Aged negress dies at 107 in Waelder Texas
Lottie Davis known as Aunt Lottie died at age 107 in Waelder. Born in 1798 in Jones county Georgia she lived through three centuries and remained mostly healthy. She had been blind for about eighteen years. Survived by husband James Davis and son Jose. Husband, 115, is frail yet the couple may be the oldest married pair in the state or country.

Robbery at Katy depot in Farmersville
In Farmersville Texas two men held up Katy depot agent Groseclose Saturday night. They forced him to open the safe and take about 700 dollars. They then cut the telephone wires.

Tarred and Feathered Prophet in Oklahoma Cruel Exile
Itinerant preacher George Huffman, calling himself the true Christ prophet, was tarred and feathered by masked men in Perth Kansas for coercive manipulation before wandering twenty miles overnight in cold to Renfrew Oklahoma where kindly residents provided clothes and hospital care. He had lived with the Talkington family and claimed the world would end in five years prompting the elderly head of the household to surrender possessions. Neighbors ordered him out. he refused and was subjected to tar and feathering before being told to leave.

Patrick acts as attorney to delay Johnsons execution

Ver Beck Theater Fire Claims Four Lives in Lorain
Four people died in a Lorain Ohio theater fire on December 18. Victims include James Dwyer age 28 and Mrs. William Marsh age 24, plus two Marsh children who lived in front apartments. William Marsh served as stage manager. Dwyer worked at the theater and slept in the basement. Building damage estimated at $50,000.
