Brilliant Papal Ceremony Adds Cardinates at Vatican
Rome April 18 A pompous papal ceremony at the Vatican marked the creation of six new cardinals. The procession to St Peter’s, led by the Swiss guard, featured the pope in white, red robed cardinals, bishops and archbishops. The new cardinals received the red hat and papal embrace as the choir sang softly. Mer Rinaldini, the Madrid nuncio, skipped this consistory and will receive his hat later.
